Ngardderrhwo (Short-necked Turtle) is a staple in the Bininj diet. Usually Ngardderrhwo is caught in fresh water billabongs and creeks on a hand line with a baited hook and then cooked in its shell over the coals. Often silver leaf paper bark leaves are stuffed into the turtles gut cavity after being gutted for added flavour.
