Kamarn (Cheeky Yam)

$135

Kamarn is an important food and was traditionally a diet staple from Kudjewk until Bangkerreng (January-April). Kamarn is the name of the main large yam, and morlkalk is the name of the smaller outgrowths from the main tuber. It is called ‘cheeky yam’ because it is poisonous if not prepared properly. It must be leached of poison in running water or cooked over coals for at least 12 hours to be safe for consumption.
