An-ujechiya is the name for fish trap in Burarra language, which is the language group of the people from Yilan, a small outstation located East of Maningrida, sitting on the coast and bank of the Blythe River. Yilan is known amongst many for its prominent jungle forests which is where Mirlarl (jungle vine) is found. Mirlal is harvested typically by women to make strong An-ujechiya. The fresh young shoots are collected and is important to begin the weaving process swiftly whilst the young shoots are fresh, green and flexible.
